NDSC FALL/WINTER ACADEMY PROGRAMS 2014-2015

NDSC will once again be partnering with SurDel Girls Soccer Club to host the Academy.  Registrations will be accepted from both NDSC and SurDel.  Although our Academy is based in North Delta we welcome players from all clubs.

In our Academy program we will try to train female players together whenever possible.  However, there may be times when numbers are low in certain age groups and boys and girls will form a mixed group.  In both Goalie Academy and First Touch & Finishing players will be mixed according to skill level.

Goalie Academy

This season we are proud to welcome back Pedro De Nobriga from acclaimed Sells Goalkeeping Academy.  Pedro is a former professional goalkeeper who has represented South Africa at the highest level.  Pedro's playing career has taken him to play in many countries and combined with his passion for coaching since 2002 he has been recognized as the premier goalie coach in Canada.  This program will run congruent to the Friday night Academy on the North end of Delsom Field and will run weekly from September 20th 2014 until mid March 2015.

First Touch & Finishing

A unique program headed by Ajit Braich, Technical Director of North Delta Soccer Club and Delta Coastal Selects. This program is designed but not limited to attacking midfielders and strikers in the U9 - U18 age groups.  Athletes looking to improve their first touch that will lead to a pass or cross and ultimately a shot on goal with the intended purpose of scoring should attend this program.  The program will run congruently with our Academy and will involve high level goalkeepers from our Premier and Delta Coastal selects program.

Email Tanya at academy@ndysc.com for more information.

Academy Goal
A significant goal of the Academy is to develop/enhance the Fundamental Skills of each player by recognizing their Skill weaknesses and focusing on improving these Skills.

Evaluation
Fundamental Skill competence is the essential controlling factor for grouping of the Academy members.   The Coaches evaluate a multitude of skills for each of the players and observe Ability, Pace, and Technique of each Skill.  The main focus of the coaches is to determine the individual weaknesses of each player to determine where development is most needed. The evaluation process is controlled by our Academy Coaches.

Grouping
Grouping is determined with an effort made to group players of similar levels, needs, pace, and mental and physical ability to focus and achieve success at a similar rate.  Size and Speed are considered but to a lesser degree.  Players are grouped based on the coaching staff's best ability to focus upon improving the recognized skill weaknesses of each player.

The Academy is focused on improving all of the players in each group at a rate where all players within the group are able to have success with the Skills taught while perfecting the Technique and improving Pace.

Players will continually be evaluated by the Academy Coaches to ensure that individuals are in the correct grouping.  Adjustments will be made at the discretion of the Academy Coaching Staff.
