Division 3:

NDSC is hoping to create a U13 Div 3 Team, with an open assessment Thursday May 22nd at Sunshine Hills Elementary, check in at 6 pm and on the field from 6:30 -  8:00 PM.

We will need to identify 16 players able to play at this level to create this team.

Rep Team Evaluation Process 2014/2015

The tentative schedule for Rep Team Evaluations is posted on the NDSC website, please continue to review the schedule for changes, since there are many situations that arise to interfere with the schedule. We will try to keep changes to a minimum.

Rep teams within the North Delta Soccer Club would include U – 11 Development teams and Div 1(Gold) and Div 2 (Silver) teams from U – 12 to U – 18. In most cases we will try to field a competitive team in both Div 1 and in Div 2.

Where possible, the coaches for the various Div 1 and Div 2 teams will be posted prior to the start of the evaluation process.

For those of you who are new to the process, please be aware that there are two higher levels within the Delta District for ages U – 13 to U - 18. First being the BC Soccer Premiere League (BCSPL) and secondly the Delta Coastal Selects (DCS). Both of these teams run independently from North Delta Soccer Club although we are a partner within the group of clubs participating. Information regarding both of these levels can be found on the links within the Delta Youth Soccer Association or Coastal FC websites.

The player evaluation process starts with the submission by coaches of team/players evaluations. All coaches should have submitted these evaluations. Besides using these for Rep evaluations they are also used in trying to balance teams within the Div 3 and Div 4 House level team selections.

The next step would be the scheduled evaluation sessions. The evaluators are made up of the one coach who has been selected as Head Coach of the team. Two paid technical staff and one club representative. Although there are sessions for Div 1 and then Div 2, I urge all boys to attend both of the group sessions. It allows the evaluators to see the boys more often and the evaluations from Div 1 will also be used for Div 2.Boys will have good nights and bad nights, so the more times they are evaluated the better the result.  There will be a lot of soccer within a short time frame.

Player performance in training and games during the regular season (September – March) is the most significant evaluation period.

It is the responsibility of the club that evaluations are fair, transparent and an honest process in final player selections.

Boys attending evaluations must first be registered for the coming season, by registering on line. If for some reason you are not able to pay the registrations fee at the present time select the check option, and we will receive payment at a later date. But we want boys registered in order that we have all the necessary information needed to communicate to the boys. There is a $10 evaluation fee to be paid one time for all club evaluations at the first session sign in. This $10 is to offset some of the costs of the paid staff and field usage fees. If you did attend DCS evaluations that fee is separate from our evaluations so yes you have to pay twice.

Communication regarding the selections will be done by e mail, for both boys selected and boys not selected. If you are selected to a Div 1 or Div 2 team, registration fees must be paid immediately. If you are selected you will have 24 hours to respond that you accept the selection or you reject selection. If you accept, and for some reason at a later date decide you are not playing your registration fee may not be reimbursed.

There are club and team expectations of players and parents at the rep level:

  1. The expected commitment to practices and games, including good attitude, are much higher.
  2. There are additional costs to be considered over and above registration fees. Rep fees average $125, plus any cost of kits, etc that the team agrees to. These will be collected by the team managers and submitted to the club by June 30.
  3. It is not compulsory for Rep players to attend Academy but it is highly recommended, but again there is a cost. Some players attend private coaching sessions at a much higher cost. Our Academy is not intended to duplicate these private sessions, but should be at a level to help boys attain a higher level of soccer ability.

Players and parents need to remember that boys will develop and grow at many different times in their soccer career. And they will go through stages of not being able to compete at the level of previous years.

There are many reasons for boys to not be able to play at the rep level and players and parents should not get discouraged.  There is nothing wrong with being the best player on a Div 3 or Div 4 team. In many cases it will be more fun and have much more playing time than playing on a rep team.

Some people may determine that rep teams are already decided based on the previous year of playing Prospect, Development or Rep. To some extent many of the boys playing at those levels will make the Rep teams, but there are always changes, and boys sometimes are overlooked and as mentioned previous boys go through growing spurts and totally change even over the summer period.

We want all boys to play soccer, and to play at their highest level.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who does the evaluations?
Internal and external evaluators are used, and whenever possible, they will be independent of the age group being evaluated. The Club Head Coach will oversee the evaluation process with assistance from other Club Coaches and Club Executive Members.

What is the evaluation process?
Evaluators will have a list of players, by pinnie number, and a list of criteria they will be evaluating against. Evaluators will observe the players as they participate in drills, small-sided and in some cases full-sided games. Players are evaluated on their athletic ability, attitude, technical skills and aptitude for the game. Feedback regarding their overall performance and attitude during previous playing seasons is also taken into consideration.
Evaluations are based on the level of skills required for the different tiers of teams (Division 1, Division 2, etc.).

How are the teams selected?
At the completion of the final evaluation, a list of players will be identified to be included in the selection pool. The pool will consist of approximately 25% more players than required on the team roster. Player selections will be made by a committee comprised of the Club Head Coach, Team Coach, evaluators and, if required, members of the Club Executive. This is a discretionary process and decisions, while not always perfect, are final.

How are the players notified?
Within 48 hours of the final evaluation, successful players will be contacted by email or telephone. Each player will be required to confirm or decline their acceptance to the selected team within 48 hours.  Final team lists will be posted on the website after all players have accepted.

What level of commitment is expected?
To play at a Rep or Development level will involve a greater commitment of time, travel and sometimes additional costs than Division 3 or "house" level teams.
It is expected that Rep or Development Teams will train a minimum two times per week and will play one league game per week.


Academy Training:
It will be recommended that all players who are selected onto a Rep or Development Team will register and attend the NDYSC Academy on Friday evenings from October to March. (There will be discounted fees for full team registrations). The cost for Academy is in addition to the regular registration fees and Rep fees. *Teams will not necessarily train together at Academy sessions.

Core Training:
Some Coaches may request that players attend additional training such as core conditioning or related skills sessions during the week or prior to the season. This may be in addition to practices.

Spring & Summer Training:
Rep and Development teams will be encouraged to train together during Spring and Summer and begin their training in mid-August, a few weeks ahead of Div 3 teams.


While NDYSC encourages players to participate in other sports and pursuits, playing at a Rep level suggests the players will make the appropriate commitment needed for the benefit of themselves and their team. If players are unable to meet the commitment of time for training once chosen to a Rep team, that player may be asked to resign from the team and play at a different level within the Club.

What are the Rep Fees?
Div 1 & 2 Teams and U11 Development Teams are required to pay a Rep fee in addition to the usual registration fees. For 2013/14 this fee is $125.
These extra fees are to offset additional costs associated with Rep teams.
  • Additional staff coaching time
  • Additional fields and light allocation
  • Additional referee fees (AR's at the older ages)
  • Higher quality equipment (game balls)
  • Additional soccer kit (2 jerseys provided to rep teams for home and away)
  • Spring and summer training (fields and coaching)
  • Travel expenses for rep teams that are travelling to Provincial and Coastal cups
The Rep fee is due no later than June 30th and is collected by the Team Manager. The Team Manager will submit the Team Rep fees immediately thereafter to the Club Administrator.

How long is the season?
Some coaches will expect to run training sessions throughout the Spring and Summer months. Tournaments and team-building activities are often the focus of these sessions. It is understood that players need rest time and families will have vacations, however, please be aware that as of mid-August, players are expected to participate in team training, training camps and/or tournaments organized by Team coaches and the Club, in preparation for the upcoming season. The season begins the first weekend of September (after the Labour Day long weekend). The BC Soccer season usually ends in March, but successful Cup play can extend the season into April, with Provincial Cup finals being held in early July.

What is the refund policy?
Players that accept a position on a Rep Team, and subsequently withdraw from the team more than 48 hours after providing their acceptance notice, shall not be eligible for a refund (of either the registration or rep fees) in the event such withdrawal is for the purpose of playing in a club other than the North Delta Youth Soccer Club. The only exception is a family and/or household move to another District. Decisions on such matters shall be governed by the Executive in their sole discretion.
